Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Ondo State governor, has received an honorary doctorate from British American University (BAU) in Florida, USA.
At yesterday’s ceremony, OBA was awarded a PhD Honoris Causa in Public and Corporate Governance and appointed as a BAU Ambassador. His wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Christianah Akingboye, and SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr. (Mrs.) Susan Gbemisola Alabi, also received honorary doctorates.

OBA expressed gratitude, stating, “This honor from BAU is both humbling and inspiring. It reinforces my commitment to bringing world-class governance to Ondo State.”
Prof. Joshua Folorunsho Oguntuwase, BAU’s Vice President (Nigeria), praised the awardees for their “evidently seen impact and appreciable accomplishments.”
This recognition comes as Ondo State approaches its gubernatorial elections, potentially influencing the campaign landscape. OBA’s new role as BAU Ambassador may open opportunities for international collaborations benefiting Ondo State.
The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Mohammed Ayinla Omolaja, President and Chairman of Council, alongside Prof. Oguntuwase.
